Colin Rolfe Arts Education Scholarship

The Opera House Stage Company established The Colin Rolfe Scholarship for the Arts in 2012, as a means to assist individuals of all ages to study the art form of their choice.

Amounts range from $100 to $400 and are available to adults, teens and children. Scholarships may be used to study music, singing, dance, acting, writing, painting or sculpture or other forms of art not listed here. Applicants may plan to attend a college or university, or they could take private lessons at a registered arts program.

While anyone in the Big Bend area may apply (see included counties below), additional consideration will be given to applicants 18 and under, those who have participated in the arts actively especially at the Monticello Opera House, and residents of Jefferson County.

For the purposes of this scholarship competition the Big Bend is defined as the following counties in Florida: Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Wakulla, Taylor, and Dixie.

About Colin Rolfe
The Board of the Opera House Stage Company decided to establish the scholarship after dear friend and fellow actor Colin Rolfe passed away in February of 2011.
Colin loved acting and theater in all of its aspects - from playing the lead to building the set. He always said he just "loved being part of the Opera House family." His first role, as Victor Laszlo in "Casablanca" came when he was 62 years old. He took piano lessons for the first time at age 68. For this reason this scholarship is open to people of all ages since inspiration can come at any age.

Applications are accepted twice a year and the current deadline is January 31, 2015. The following award competition will close July 31st 2015.  Winners are announced within 30 days of the close of the competition.

For general information about the Scholarship call the Monticello Opera House at 850-997-4242. The application is available for download on our website here.
