El Gato Sin Amigos (The Nobody Likes Me Cat!)

November 17 - 19

El Gato Sin Amigos (The Nobody Likes Me Cat!)

This charming children's play is based on a short story by the Cuban writer and artist Teresita Gómez Vallejo, adapted for theater by Joe Rosenberg. Our guest director Ben Gunter has given the play a contemporary and Floridian accent that make it a delightful experience for Spanish and non-Spanish speaking audiences. El Gato Sin Amigos tells the story of Rufo, a lazy cat looking for friends to talk and play with. Unfortunately, they are not always available. In his effort to find friends, he'll meet some Floridian animals: a manatee, an anhinga, and a Florida panther, who will show him that he can find a balance and enjoy a happy and productive life with many friends. This is an interactive play where children will be able to sing, learn words in different languages, and engage in Rufo's adventure. Come to the beautiful Monticello Opera House and enjoy this fun play!

Friday evening performance starts at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday matinee performances start at 2 p.m. Doors open one hour before performance begins.

Tickets are $7 for children and $12 for adults and may be purchased via the link below. Tickets will also be available for purchase in our lobby before show start.
