In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, life and death are anything but orderly — and almost always hilarious. When the Turpin family gathers to mourn their dearly departed patriarch, their own troubles keep stealing the spotlight.
Eldest son Ray-Bud drowns his stress in drink as funeral expenses skyrocket. His brother Junior faces financial disaster, a suspicious wife, and a brood of unruly kids. Spinster sister Delightful copes with grief the only way she knows — by diving into junk food. And the eccentric neighbors? They’re more of a hindrance than a help.
Through the mishaps, laughter, and Southern charm, the Turpins — with a little help from their oddball community — just might stumble their way through the funeral after all.
